Pre-Athletic Training

Drake offers a pre-Athletic Training (pre-AT) program for those interested in an athletic training degree, allowing you to begin working toward your Master’s degree right out of high school. As a pre-athletic training student, you will complete three years in the pre-AT track, followed by two years in the Master of Athletic Training program. A Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree is awarded after the first year (A1) in the master’s program. This pre-athletic training professional track includes several benefits:

  • You will be guaranteed an interview for admission to Drake's Master of Athletic Training program as you complete the pre-AT track.
  • An Athletic Training faculty mentor/adviser and the Office of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management are available to provide resources and support.
  • You can pursue membership in professional organizations, providing the chance to network with fellow students across the state and country.
  • You will enroll in courses from the Health Sciences major which will provide you with job shadowing experiences, career exploration opportunities, innovation and practice management skills, and health care system understanding.

Students in the College of Arts and Sciences may participate our 3+2 partnership through the Kinesiology department, earning both a bachelors degree in kinesiology and the MAT degree in five years.
